Under the overall direction of the Chief Security Officer, and the direct supervision of the Guard Force Supervisor, the Field Security Assistant will perform the following functions: • Ensures the safety and protection of UN Personnel and property in UNTSO HQ premises. • Assists the Security Officer /Team Leader in the screening of all visitors, staff members, packages and vehicles entering UN complex to ensure authorized access and compliance with Access Control Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). • Provides continuous coverage of cameras, telephone and radio communications systems and associated recording pieces of equipment. • Monitors, identifies and reports security and safety breaches and issues in accordance with existing procedures on a continuous basis, in order to contribute to the overall security of UN staff, diplomats, visitors, premises, property etc. within UNTSO HQ premises. • Prepares incident report, maintains main gate logbooks and submits them in a timely manner. • Performs security related driving assignments as required. • Carries out other Security and Safety type functions including but not limited to, first aid, firefighting etc. as may be required and renders clear crisis/emergency response support. • Checks and verifies the identification and purpose of all persons seeking entry to UNTSO in accordance with existing UN rules and regulations, UNTSO SOPs and including instructions that may be given by the Chief Security Officer, Guard Force Supervisor and Team Leader as required. • Provides static security at fixed posts and entry points to UNTSO HQ compound, recording particulars as appropriate of vehicle information, cargo manifests and other pertinent information as required. • Undertakes regular foot and vehicle security patrols within HQs compound, main building and along the compound perimeter fence, as required in accordance with standing instructions. • Provides essential information and guidance to all UN personnel as required. • Performs shift duties, (to include afternoons, morning and nights which requires long periods of standing) and any other duties and responsibilities as may be required and so assigned by the Chief Security Officer or his designated official.
