Finpact Development Foundation (FINDEF) recruiting Gender and Protection Specialist in Sokoto

 Overview

The Program Manager will oversee the implementation and management of all activities aimed at reducing child marriage and supporting the empowerment of adolescent girls in North west Nigeria. She will be instrumental in engaging various stakeholders, including local communities to build a supportive framework for the empowerment of adolescent girls. This position requires a dynamic person capable of driving initiatives that intersect gender equality, education, and child protection.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with case workers and child protection groups to establish reporting and response systems for abuse against adolescent girls.
  • Manage the transition from planning to action, supervise the formation and training of community groups for SGBV case handling, and oversee community outreach and education efforts.
  • Lead the development and implementation of livelihood enhancement programs for adolescent girls, including skills training and economic empowerment initiatives.
  • Conduct regular assessments to monitor program effectiveness, adapt strategies based on feedback, and ensure continuous improvement.
  • Generate reports on program outcomes, document case studies, and compile final analyses to illustrate successes and areas for future enhancement.
  • Maintain strong relationships with all project stakeholders to ensure sustained support and project success.

Qualifications

  • MSc. in Public Health, Social Sciences, Gender Studies, or a related field.
  • At least 7 years of experience in program management, specifically in gender empowerment or child protection programs.
  • Proven ability to manage large-scale projects and multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Strong understanding of the socio-economic and cultural context of Northwest Nigeria.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, reporting and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Fluency in local languages and English is highly desirable.

Senior Gender & Protection Specialist Type

Overview

The Senior Gender & Protection Specialist will lead the integration of gender and protection considerations into humanitarian and development programs. This role involves developing strategies, providing technical support, and ensuring compliance with international standards to promote gender equality and protect vulnerable populations. The ideal candidate will have expertise in child protection and gender empowerment, focusing on addressing critical issues such as PSEA, child marriage, gender-based violence, and adolescent girls empowerment.

 Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct gender and protection analyses to inform program design and implementation.
  • Develop and deliver training sessions on gender and protection for staff and stakeholders.
  • Ensure gender and protection principles are integrated into all stages of the project cycle.
  • Strengthen capacity of staff and stakeholders through training and support to address gender and protection issues.
  • Create and disseminate resources to support gender and protection integration.
  • Collaborate with external partners ( including NGOs, government agencies, and donors) and participate in relevant coordination forums and working groups.
  • Identify and mitigate risks related to gender and protection in project implementation.
  • Develop and implement safeguarding policies and procedures to prevent and respond to protection issues.
  • Contribute to the development of grant proposals and donor reports focusing on gender and protection.
  • Support fundraising efforts by identifying funding opportunities related to gender and protection.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational and donor policies on gender and protection.
  • Develop and oversee programs that reduce child marriage and support girls’education and empowerment in Northwestern Nigeria.
  • Ensure programs are integrated with protection measures and education systems to support adolescent girls, both in school and out of school.

Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in Gender Studies, Social Sciences, International Development, or related field.
  • Certifications in child protection, gender mainstreaming, and project management.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in gender and protection within humanitarian or development contexts.
  • Strong understanding of international standards and frameworks related to gender and protection.
  • Expertise in developing program strategies, including community-based protection and gender norm change initiatives.
  • Excellent proposal writing skills with experience in creating concept notes and proposals for international donors.
  • Excellent communication, training, and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural and multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Deep understanding of the local context and cultural sensitivities in Northwest Nigeria
