Summary - The work schedule for this position is:

Full Time (40 hours per week)
Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time (6 weeks) of receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.
Basic Function of the Position

The incumbent reports directly to the Senior Foreign Service National Investigator (FSNI) and conducts background investigations of new and existing locally employed staff as well as sponsored contract staff.
The FSNI conducts special investigation, maintains police high level liaison and performs security supports of Consulate events and travel program.
Requirements, Qualifications and Evaluations

Experience: Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in investigative work with a military, police or private organization is required.
Job Knowledge: Knowledge of the principles and techniques of investigation is required. Thorough and current knowledge of Nigeria's security environment and workings of the various security organizations is required.
Education Requirements: College (2 years) or Post-Secondary School
Evaluations - This may be tested:

Language: Level III (Good working knowledge) Speaking/Reading/Writing in English is required. Level III (Good working knowledge) Speaking/Reading/Writing Igbo, Yoruba or Hausa is required.
Skills And Abilities: Ability to maintain extensive contacts with officials of various local agencies including the Police. Good interpersonal skills with the ability to distinguish between relevant and irrelevant information and to report facts accurately in a logical, concise and objective manner. Must have a valid Nigeria driver's license.

Basic Function of the Position

The incumbent reports directly to the Air conditioning Maintenance Foreman.
S/he assists the technicians of the skilled trades in the performance of routine and preventive maintenance, new installations and demolition work.
The Air conditioning Maintenance Foreman will assign the incumbent to any of the skilled trade shops on a daily basis to assist the skilled technicians with maintenance and repair work throughout the New Embassy Compound/New Consulate Compound (NEC/NCC) office buildings, grounds and residential owned/leased properties.
In addition to assisting the skilled trade technicians, s/he may be assigned tasks including material handling, painting, custodial type work, common laborer work, and grounds maintenance and gardening work.
Qualifications and Evaluations

Experience: A minimum of two (2) years of maintenance or construction semi-skilled work experience in skilled trades such as masonry, mechanical (Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) and Plumbing), electrical or carpentry, with significant focus on building systems.
Job Knowledge: Must have a basic technical understanding of major building mechanical systems and equipment. Must be familiar with construction techniques and workplace safety, personal protective equipment (PPE) - how and when to use it.
Education Requirements: Completion of Secondary School or received High School Diploma
Evaluations - This may be tested:

Language: Level II (Limited knowledge) Speaking/Reading/ Writing in English
Skills And Abilities: Must be  a visionary, forward thinker, and quick understudy with an aptitude to learn so he/she can anticipate the materials and tools the skilled technician will need ahead of time.
Ability  to use  the typical lot of hand tools, small handheld power tools, vacuum cleaners, gardening tools, and ladders; must be adept at keeping  work sites free of clutter and debris, clean and neat;  must use good safety practices and follow all safety requirements in execution of tasks and be able to use all appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE);  ability to respond to emergency situations in an efficient and timely manner to effect immediate repairs; work in various adverse conditions such as tight or enclosed spaces, heights, and temperature extremes, indoors or outdoors to complete work assignments; must have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to handle a large workload and multiple tasks; be able to take direction,be organized; communicate orally and in writing with co-workers, contractors and vendors to obtain and provide pertinent information.
Must have a Nigeria valid driver’s license.

Boat Pilot (SPEAR Boat Pilot)

Summary

Duties

The incumbent serves as a Boat Pilot for the Regional Security Office responsible for navigating boats with outboard motors in and around the Lagos waterways
S/he is expected to perform basic preventive maintenance, checks and inspection of the boat, engines, and basic emergency equipment such as fire extinguisher, radios and horn
The boat pilot position is expected to work 48 hours per week
Direct supervision and daily work guidance is provided by the SPEAR Logistics Coordinator.
Qualifications and Evaluations
Education Requirements:

Completion of Primary School
Experience:

Three years of professional experience in boat operation along the Lagos coast, and near off-shore waters is required.
Job Knowledge:

Knowledge of outboard motor operation and maintenance, as well as knowledge of Lagos, the Lagoon, Creeks, and near off-shore waters is required.
Evaluations:

This may be tested.
Language:

Level II (Limited Knowledge) speaking/writing/reading English is required
Level III (Good working Knowledge) speaking/reading Yoruba/Igbo/Hausa is required.
Skill and Abilities:

Must have skill and abilities in boat handling, first and second boat maintenance procedures, outboard motor maintenance, boat instrument reading, refueling procedures, boat safety operations, inshore and offshore navigation.  Ability to swim in the event of a water-based accident
Must have a current and valid boat piloting license.
