Job Title: Dentist

Location: Port Harcourt, Rivers
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Summary

  • The dentist is responsible for diagnosing, treating, and advising patients on various oral health issues.
  • This includes providing preventive care, conducting regular check-ups, and performing procedures such as fillings, extractions, root canals, and cosmetic treatments.
  • The dentist works closely with dental hygienists, assistants, and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality dental care to patients.

Key Responsibilities
Patient Care:

  • Conduct thorough oral examinations to assess the condition of patients’ teeth, gums, and overall oral health.
  • Diagnose dental conditions and develop appropriate treatment plans.
  • Perform dental procedures, including cleanings, fillings, extractions, crowns, bridges, dentures, and root canals.
  • Provide preventive care, such as fluoride treatments, sealants, and oral hygiene advice.
  • Administer anesthesia and perform dental surgeries as required.
  • Educate patients on oral health best practices, diet, and preventive care.
  • Manage patient records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.

Professional Development:

  • Stay updated on the latest dental practices, techniques, and technologies.
  • Attend professional dental seminars and training as required.
  • Participate in continuing education to maintain a current and valid dental license.

Team Collaboration:

  • Work closely with dental hygienists, dental assistants, and office staff to ensure the smooth operation of the dental practice.
  • Coordinate care with specialists when necessary, such as orthodontists, periodontists, and oral surgeons.

Qualifications
Education:

  • Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from an accredited dental school with 1 - 5 years work experience. 

Licensure:

  • Valid dental license

Experience:

  • Experience in a clinical setting is preferred, but new graduates are welcome to apply.

Skills:

  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients and team members.
  • Compassionate and patient-focused approach.
  • Proficiency in using dental technology and software.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand or sit for long periods.
  • Manual dexterity and precision in hand movements.
  • Good visual acuity.

Working Conditions:

  • The dentist will typically work in a dental office environment.
  • Regular working hours, with potential for evenings or weekends depending on practice hours.
  • Exposure to dental instruments, materials, and equipment.
