ENGINEERING MANAGER/ Deputy Contract Manager
Position reports to: Day to day: Project Contract Manager, functionally to Location Engineering Manager
Primary objective
The incumbent will be responsible for the management of teams of Project Engineers, Discipline Engineers and Designers and other specialists involved in the development of major projects at various stages from conceptual design through to detail design, implementation and commissioning. It is envisaged that this role will initially be the Project Engineering Manager initially but ideally within 12 months the candidate would be expected to step up to the Contract Manager role.
Specific Accountabilities
Management of pre-qualification submissions and tenders
Managing a team of 100 plus Engineering and design staff with over 140 staff on the project and currently expanding
Safety – Responsible for personal safety and safe working practices. Understand and follow OH&S procedures.
Management and control of health, safety and environmental risks associated with project activities.
Scope, budget and schedule development
Project cost and schedule monitoring, control and analysis
Change Management (schedule and cost)
Customer Satisfaction and Relationship Management
Identification of further work opportunities for Worley or affiliates
Team building and Leadership
Quality management
Performance reporting
Continuous Improvement initiatives
Development and implementation of initiatives to improve cost effectiveness.
Effective management and control of risks through design and installation.
Understanding and implementing the requirements of the OHS Regulations Act.
Maintaining design integrity and quality within the project team.
Quality Assurance – Responsible for working within the provisions and guidelines of the Quality Assurance system.
Mentoring, coaching and training of subordinates.
Skills/Experience required
Working knowledge of industry standard business support systems i.e. project planning packages, cost management systems, ISO9001 quality management systems
Demonstrable commitment to HSE management in a project environment
Excellent leadership and communication skills
A high level of customer focus
Minimum experience requirements are 20 years relevant Design experience in an oil & gas project environment.
Concept, FEED and Detailed Design experience
At least 5 years in a similar position with previous engineering management experience of offshore brownfields projects.
Must possess people management and leadership skills, have a strong commercial awareness and experience of implementing company safety and quality management systems.
Ability to work under pressure in an environment which expects the highest levels of customer service, confidentiality and ethical behaviours.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills within a multicultural environment.
Adaptability, initiative and problem solving capability.
Requires highly motivated, capable of managing interfaces between the Design Team, Construction, Operations, etc.
Sound understanding of applicable local & international engineering standards and codes of practice
Candidates should hold an engineering degree gained through full time study
You will need to be a proven leader with strong commercial acumen.
