Risk Analyst

MicroRate - Nigeria

As part of the development of its operations in Africa, overall in Nigeria, MicroRate is looking for an Anglophone risk analyst. The proposed position will be based in Nigeria, after a three to six-month training in Lima (Peru) at MicroRate headquarters or in English-speaking countries. The position requires availability to travel 40% of the time (approximately one week per month) in countries where MicroRate's client MFIs are located. Start as soon as possible.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
  • Preparation of the rating missions (preliminary analysis of the MFI and the country, reprocessing of the financial statements, reading of the documents and policies of the MFI);
  • Conducting the evaluation mission in the field. Participation in interviews, analysis of information and preparation of the closing meeting;
  • Post-visit analysis and report writing;
  • Preparation of studies on various topics (issues specific to the Africa region, among others);
  • Commercial activities in the region: analysis of the sector by country, sending information to potential clients;
  • Participate in specific projects, to be defined, to improve the methodology, indicators and evaluation tools.
Qualifications:
  • Education in accounting, corporate finance, financial analysis, microfinance;
  • Two years of experience in financial analysis, microfinance, audit;
  • Native English required; French is a plus;
  • Analytical skills;
  • Good writing and synthesis skills;
  • Interest for the microfinance sector;
  • Autonomy, ethic, strong commitment and proactivity.
