Divisional Head, Portfolio Management Group

Lagos

The role reports directly to the Group Chief Executive and as such will be a member of the Group Executive Council (GEC) sharing collective responsibility to deliver the Group's strategy and vision.
The Divisional Head, Portfolio Management Group will lead a small and dedicated team of Portfolio Managers and Executives to provide the necessary vision, leadership, and Capital raiding activities and skills which will enable the organisation to achieve its Capital and funding targets and organisational development programme.
The Divisional Head, Portfolio Management Group must have substantial Investment, capital Fund raising and management experience, a talent for building relationships and a proven track record in securing funds from statutory sources, Retails, Wholesales, High Net worth Individual, Corporate, Private and Individuals. Experience in development of Business Programmes including marketing is a must.
Main Responsibilities
Strategy and planning
  • Lead the Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly and Annual Investment Drive and Fund Raising planning process to produce effective strategies to achieve income targets across the range of revenue streams
  • In cooperation with the Group Chief Executive, lead the development of long-term strategy to achieve agreed long term organisational goals
  • Identify new potential income streams and produce strategies to access the funding of the new ventures.
Financial Planning and Budget Management
  • Produce cost-effective budgets to achieve action plans
  • Develop and maintain income and expenditure tracking and evaluation systems
  • Ensure the Portfolio Management Group is kept within budget
Fundraising and Portfolio Management
  • Manage an effective fundraising team that delivers fundraising income meeting set targets
  • Manage and develop a portfolio of customers with an aim to deepen and broaden relationships with our clients
  • Achieve various individual business targets and contribute to the team performance
  • Develop, manage and Cross-sell a full range of Investmentproducts
  • Provide guidance, coaching and support to Team members
  • Develop and maintain effective supporter journeys for the development of relationships and retention
Senior Management
The Divisional Head of Portfolio Management Group is a member of the Group Executive Council (GEC) and as such the post-holder will be expected to play a proactive role in the management of the organisation, including:
  • Organisational strategic planning
  • Organisational development
  • Income and expenditure budget planning and management
  • Advising members of GEC on the availability of funds and the viability of obtaining funds to support Group and Subsidiaries Business Activities
  • Attending finance committee meetings to report and give advice on Investment related Matters
Staff Management
Line management of Portfolio Management Group staff, including:
  • Agreeing objectives and work plans
  • Managing workload and performance through regular one-to-one line management discussions
  • Plan and implement personal development programme for team members in all relevant skills Undertake annual performance reviews

Essential Experience
  • At least Eight (8) years’ experience in a similar role working in the Relationship Management and or marketing Department on target Driven Financial Institution preferably a commercial Bank
  • Demonstrable track record of Strategic Investment and Capital Raising with proven evidences
  • Successful, significant and relevant achievement at management level in a comparable Financial Institution.
  • Experience of utilising the strength of an organisation brand for business development
  • Proven track record of meeting challenging income targets
  • Proven ability to build, manage and develop key stakeholder and client relationships.
  • Experience of developing and implementing strategic and business plans
  • Proven track record in fundraising that has directly resulted in increased income for an organisation
  • Effective dissemination of information to large and diverse groups
Essential Skills and Knowledge
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Track record of bringing innovative creative thinking and fresh ideas to an organisation and/ or its services.
  • Knowledge of the fundraising, portfolio and investment environment and of a range techniques and disciplines which will support the cost effective generation of income for Group
  • Exceptionally convincing and persuasive written and oral skills with the ability to present and convey complex ideas and issues clearly and coherently
  • Ability to secure Senior Management and Board approval for strategy
  • Demonstrable ability to evaluate the type of initiatives and Ventures within the scope of the post and initiate, develop and deliver new initiatives that build on their successes.
  • Highly self-motivated and able to work autonomously, take initiative and make decisions. Commitment to Group’s core values and strategic direction
