The Fleet Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing and continually improving our business’ fleet programs in a manner that ensures compliance with external regulatory requirements, improves efficiency, and provides reliability to meet customer needs. RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
The Fleet Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing and continually improving our business’ fleet programs in a manner that ensures compliance with external regulatory requirements, improves efficiency, and provides reliability to meet customer needs. Job responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Guide and promote fleet safety and compliance by developing standards, policies procedures, and programs to eliminate, prevent or control accidents, hazardous conditions or behaviors and foster a culture of compliance and safe operation.
- Provide oversight and management of driver eligibility process and records.
- Develop and implement vehicle maintenance program and recordkeeping to meet regulatory requirements and to ensure fleet safety.
- Develop and implement training for all personnel to assure understanding and compliance of DOT and transportation programs and permitting including shipment of hazardous materials.
- Serve as fleet compliance program owner to interpret DOT regulations and develop standards, procedures and programs to ensure compliance and safety.
- Administer and manage the Vehicle licensing and permitting; Manage and maintain fleet records including titles, registrations, and permits.
- Prepare, submit and document all DOT and state reporting requirements including IFTA, fuel, and mileage tax submissions.
- Oversee Fleet acquisition and disposal ensuring vehicles are within standards and appropriate for the intended use. Negotiate fleet wide programs with vendors.
- Implement and continuously improve fleet rotation programs to maximize efficiency and asset utilization. Develop and administer corporate fleet replacement schedule.
- Other duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor of Science degree in relevant discipline.
- A minimum of 10 years of transportation experience 5+ years in a fleet leadership/management role is required
- Thoroughly understand regulatory requirements, including DOT and Hazardous Materials, reporting and other federal, state and local laws.
- Successful track record of designing and managing fleet safety and compliance programs.
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communications and presentation skills; Detail-oriented.
- Excellent problem solving, analytical, influencing and negotiating skills.
- Ability to interact effectively with a variety of individuals at all levels within the organization and with outside agencies.
- Knowledge and ability to implement process improvements and program.
- Must exhibit a professional and positive image.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with DOT or similar government or regulatory agency a plus.
- Experience in the agri-business and/or propane/petroleum industry a plus.
