Program Coordinator at The Population Council


The Population Council, is an international, non-profit, non-governmental institution that seeks to improve the well-being and reproductive health of current and future generations around the world and help achieve a humane, equitable and sustainable balance between people and resources. The Council's major program areas are HIV&AIDS, reproductive health and poverty, gender, and youth. The Council conducts biomedical, social science and public health research and helps build research capacities in developing countries. The Population Council works in collaboration with a broad range of Nigerian institutions. Due to expansion of its activities, the Council is seeking qualified individuals to fill the following positions in its Abuja office.
Job Title: Program Coordinator (Community Mobilization & Advocacy)

The successful candidate will provide leadership in all RH community outreach and field advocacy efforts in line with Council's commitments around reducing maternal mortality and morbidity, and improving youth reproductive well-being in Nigeria.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate must have:
  • Level of Education: A minimum of university degree in the Social Sciences, MPH or MSc in a field related to community development or behavior change communication.
  • General communication & interpersonal skill level Excellent
  • Language requirement: Written and spoken English excellent
  • IT expertise required: Good
  • Experience working in the north, and ability to speak Hausa is preferred
  • Ability to travel within and outside Nigeria
  • Prior experience: 5 years experience implementing community mobilization and/or policy advocacy programs in the context of Reproductive Health Promotion, or Poverty Reduction,. Gender Equality Advancement and Youth Development.
