Program Officer vacancy at The Population Council


The Population Council, is an international, non-profit, non-governmental institution that seeks to improve the well-being and reproductive health of current and future generations around the world and help achieve a humane, equitable and sustainable balance between people and resources. The Council's major program areas are HIV&AIDS, reproductive health and poverty, gender, and youth. The Council conducts biomedical, social science and public health research and helps build research capacities in developing countries. The Population Council works in collaboration with a broad range of Nigerian institutions. Due to expansion of its activities, the Council is seeking qualified individuals to fill the following positions in its Abuja office.
 
Job Title: Program Officer (RH)
 
The successful candidate will provide technical support to administrative and field activities in the implementation of Population Council's Maternal Mortality Reduction and Adolescent SRH Promotion Projects focused on Northern Nigeria.
 
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate must have:
  • Level of Education: A minimum of university degree in health sciences, and biomedical sciences, MBBS.
  • General communication & interpersonal skill level Excellent Language requirement: Englishexcellent
  • IT expertise required: Good
  • Understanding of local communities and culture in northern Nigeria and ability to speak Hausa fluently is required
  • Ability to travel within Nigeria, especially the north
  • Prior experience: 5 years experience working on maternal health, youth sexual and reproductive health or similar programs
