Job Summary

  • The Management Accountant will play a critical role in providing financial insights and analysis to drive effective decision-making within the aluminum and copper recycling plant.
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for budgeting, forecasting, cost analysis, and performance monitoring to ensure optimal financial performance.
  • This role requires an individual with a strong background in manufacturing finance, particularly in the metals or recycling industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, analyze, and report monthly management accounts and financial statements, including variance analysis against budget and forecasts.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive budgeting and forecasting processes to support the plant's financial planning.
  • Conduct detailed cost analysis of production processes, identifying opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
  • Monitor and report on key financial metrics, including cost per ton, scrap rates, and productivity KPIs to ensure alignment with business objectives.
  • Assist in the development of pricing models and strategies for aluminum and copper products, ensuring profitability while maintaining market competitiveness.
  • Partner with operations and production teams to analyze plant performance and recommend improvements for cost control and profitability.
  • Prepare cash flow forecasts, monitor working capital requirements, and manage inventory valuation and control.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, accounting standards, and company policies.
  • Lead the month-end and year-end close processes, including reconciliation of ledgers, journals, and other accounting records.
  • Provide financial insights to support decision-making on capital investments and new projects, including cost-benefit analysis.
  • Prepare and present financial reports to senior management, highlighting key insights and recommendations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A professional certification such as ACA, ACCA, or CIMA is required.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in management accounting, with a strong background in the manufacturing or metals industry.
  • Proven expertise in cost accounting, budgeting, and forecasting within a production environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable insights.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems; experience with [Insert Relevant Software/ERP used at the plant] is preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in financial analysis and reporting.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Knowledge of IFRS or GAAP and relevant regulatory frameworks in the recycling or manufacturing sector is an advantage.
